Janseung Yard
The small island of democracy to protect against evil.
Grass Square at the entrance to the Democracy Park. There are two Jangseungs, Korean traditional totem pole.
It protects the Democracy Park from undemocratic things.
As soon as you enter the park, you can find the grassy square where Janseung is standing, the name of that square is Jangseung yard.
The main character of the ‘6th Jangseung-gut unification of Korea’ that was held with the opening of Democracy Park in 1999, ‘Unification hero’ and ‘Unification heroin’ are located at the entrance of the park. This Jangseung was sent by citizens of Jindo to honor the democratic spirit of Busan. Jangseung is the patron saint sent to protect Democracy Park from undemocratic rule and interruptions to the unification of Korea.
